Seto no Hanayome
Seto no Hanayome – The Inland Sea Bride
Nagasumi Michishio, a young middle school student on a trip to visit his grandmother at the beach with his family, is drowning only to be saved by a mermaid. As if almost drowning wasn’t enough of a hassle, according to mermaid law if a person sees mermaids true for they must both be executed. Luckily for Nagasumi the mermaid who saved him, Sun Seto, has decided that in order to save both of them she wants to marry him. Sun’s father, the leader of a merman fish gang, is overly protective of his only daughter and He is constantly trying to kill Nagasumi so that he can “protect” his daughter.
Seto no Hanayome is a pretty good shounen Manga with a good mix of comedy and ecchi material to keep readers happy. There is even a pretty good anime adaption of the Manga that started in April of 2007. Seto no Hanayome is a good Manga that has a solid plot with great art.

Movie: The Heartbreak Kid (2007) Review
The movie The Heartbreak Kid wasn’t that bad, I had some ‘LOL’ moments but it’s not some of Ben Stiller’s best work. Though it had a good plot for a romantic-comedy, it was still very predictable. A man marries somebody, meets somebody on his honeymoon that’s better, she finds out, he gets in a lot of trouble.
This might just be personal opinion here but I think I’m just about sick of the romantic-comedy genre, I’d like some good comedies back please and thanks. Despite my growing unhappiness with the genre, this movie did hold up on both the romantic and the comedy factors and proved to be a worth-watching film. I’d recommend going to see it in theaters for the the Ben Stiller fan (or if you want to see nudity on the big screen, because that’s there too)Final: 6.5/10 “My son found your panties on the sidewalk and we’ve been talking about you all week.”
What threw me off was that Ben Stiller had gray hair and was acting like he was 40. I’m a fan of some older stuff, such as Zoolander, so seeing him being old throw me off. What worries me though is that as he’s getting older the quality of his movies are going down hill. The flare just seems to be burning out, not quite gone yet, but getting there. I’d like to see him come out with something in the near future living up to his humorous reputation, but can’t see it happening.

Movie: Good Luck Chuck Review
I’m not sure if I liked this movie or not. Good Luck Chuck didn’t exactly have a great plot, and thus didn’t allow the actors to portray good characters. They came off very stale which lead to the predictable ending. There were ‘funny’ parts that made me laugh, but it was more of the “ha, she ran into a pole” funny than anything that was thought through. The plot wasn’t really really bad, but it wasn’t really really good; It was a movie. I don’t think it really hit the mark that I was looking for, but I wouldn’t ask for my money back.Final: 4/10 “Do you like it when I eat your penguin ass?”
I do ask, however, that Jessica Alba start getting better roles. Honestly, I can say that when I first saw her in Dark Angel I thought she was amazing. But since then the last good thing she’s done is Sin City in 2005, where she played a stripper. Since then all of her roles have been quite poorly done (Invisible Woman included) and I feel that all she is doing is proving that her only talent is being eye candy. Lets get this girl acting a bit, or at least get her in playboy in the near future.

Movie: I Could Never Be Your Woman (Review)
With so many recognizable names in I Could Be Your Woman (Sarah Alexander and Jon Lovitz to make the list short)I really have to wonder why I found this so boring. The plot was boring, old woman falls for young star.
However, the whole movie was I was thinking “ha, it’s Dee from Clueless” whenever Saoirse Ronan was on stage. And more so than that there was a part where one of the characters confronted the daughters math teacher, who was played by Wallace Shawn. That’s right, Mr. Hall from Clueless. Yeah I know, I found it funny though so STFU.
Anyway, the movie was really only saved by that and the songs/parodies that the daughter sand throughout the movie. Besides that, you could have really gone to see something better.
Final: 5/10

Movie: Romantic-Comedies
I’ve come to notice that of all the movies I watch, most seem to be comedies. That’s a fairly normal thing I would thing, I’d rather laugh more than cry or be scared. But lately, most of those comedies that are being brought to my attention are romantic-comedies. Or as I should say, are classified as romantic-comedies. For instance, the movie No Reservations which I recently in which most of the plot involves her learning to open up and allow herself to fall in love is a romantic-comedy. However the movie American Pie (the first one) is not a romantic-comedy, it is simply a comedy. For a movie to be anything with a split (romantic-comedy, thriller-horror, crime-drama, etc) the movie needs to have a fairly even balance. I think it should be at least 45% of one category to deserve the title. American Pie was not 45% romantic.
However that’s not what I was going to write about this blog. What I was going to write about, was the plot of every single romantic-comedy that ever existed. Yes, I think I’ve broken the formula. The key isn’t so much what happens in the movie as much as it is what hasn’t happened before the movie. Most of the changes that happen in a movie that create the plot involve a workaholic/routine, death of a loved one, or an accident blow out of proportion (but then it’s more comedy-romance based on the characters constantly messing up). Those are the inciting incidents that usually start the plot. Really it’s more anything that will take them out of what they normally do and force them to adapt. This is what causes the ‘comedy’ for most of them as they often fail at adapting and usually need the help of somebody else. This is where the romance comes in.
At least 90% of the ‘romance’ is often caused by the theory ‘opposites attract’. I could start naming off movies here that follow this theory but I’m sure most anybody who has seen at least one movie in this genre can clearly see. This person (the opposite) is often seen as the antagonist to the main character’s routine life. However, they find that the character that they’ve been having a problem with is not such a bad person, but in fact is exactly what they’ve been missing in their lives. Simply put: The ying to their yang.
The other 10% of romantic-comedies use the ‘social awkwardness’ route for the romance. Such as the male not being able to talk to girls because he gets too nervous, then finding out that the girl in which he after is just as nervous as he was. Some other social awkwardness signs can simply involve the character being shy or depressed and unwilling to create an emotional bond. This is often the case fof films in which the workaholic card is also played.
Ok, that’s it for now. I just really wanted to point that out, so next time you’re watching a movie watch for the opposite thing, chances are you can notice that deep down they’re all really just looking their place in life and somebody to love….or maybe that guy sticking the kid’s head in the toilet and stealing his lunch money is just an asshole.

Movie: No Reservations (Review)
Instead of doing a long detail on No Reservations I’m going to be very general. It’s not so much that I’m lazy, but I’m going to be mentioning most of the plot in a post after this review.
Simply put the movie follows the workaholic who gets thrown off balance route. When Kate (Zeta-Jones) is forced to go from a single woman to taking care of her niece after her sister is killed in a car accident. Throw in a little ‘opposites attract’ action with a new co-worker Nick (Eckhart) and you have your movie romantic-comedy. With the two previous actors mentioned as well as rising star Abigail Breslin it made for a worth wild movie to watch.
The acting wasn’t over the top, but was more than enough for the simple plot at hand. As with the recent trend in culinary targeted entertainment, this movie leaves you not only satisfied with the movie itself, but also a little bit hungry.

Movie: Garden State (Review)
Garden State
Genre: Comedy/Drama/RomancePlot: This movie might not be the first of its kind, but it surely isn’t one of the cheesy knock offs. There was a clear and well laid out plot without the excess over thinking and dramatization as seen in most movies of the genre. That being said, all issues addressed in the story had significance and were cleaned up by the end of the film as all good film should. 4.5/5
Cast: The actors picked for these roles did a fantastic job. Braff Did a wonderful job expressing (or in this case not expressing) the true feelings of the character and Portman was breath taking as the free spirited Sam. 2/2
Other: .This movie was a great wake up call to the all the crap that has been spewed out lately that Hollywod is calling ‘romantic comedy’. I only regret is that I didn’t see this movie in theatres when it was first released. I’d definitely recommend it to anybody who enjoys this genre as it’s truly a gem. 2.5/3
Final: 9/10

I’m a Romantic-Comedy!
So I just woke up from a dream. I rarely dream, so when I dream it’s like “Yes! Dream Yeaaaaah!”. Me dreaming is about as exciting as winning $5 on a lotto ticket; You’re super-excited even thought it’s not a lot. Anyway, here it is:
I was a celebrity figure. Let me correct that, I was an unhappy celebrity figure. Normally dressed fancy, rode in a limo, owns a big house etc. But as much money as I had, it really wasn’t what I was looking for. One day, decided to go off on my own to chill as normal people do. I dawned my blue hat and puffy blue vest from a dusty trunk in the back of my closet, some reflective shades and a pair of jeans. So I grabbed a cab and told him to take me where the action wasn’t and my life really was. Strangely enough, he took me the town which I grew up (not my real town I grew up in, my celebrity self. However, there were similarities). When I offered him some cash he refused it with a smile and told me he’d catch me next time around. When I got out I glanced at the license plate it said “1C1-14NC3″; One Chance. It was odd since it wasn’t in any sort of license plate format, and stuck in my mind.
First thing I decided to do is go for a walk to find somewhere to stay for the night. I ended up deciding on a room at a Bed N Breakfast, threw my bag in there and continued walking down King St (the main street of the town). So I walked King for an hour, window shopping all the mama & papa shops along the way. Though closed since it was a Sunday, the day of rest, it was comforting seeing these stores still existed somewhere and weren’t put out of business or bought out by larger companies. As I continued I decided that I would head to an old high school buddy’s place. Last I had heard he still lived with his parents and their 92 pink flamingo lawn ornaments. So I’d head there, wasn’t too far. So I cut off King and started to head down Victoria.
As I walk down Victoria I pass some of the larger stores: Wal-Mart, The Gap, IKEA. For a Sunday, the parking lots were packed. Guess corporate machines don’t need to rest. Getting a sick feeling thinking about how I’m part of the machine, I stick my hands in my pocket and I start walking faster.
Near the end of Victoria I can start to see my old friend’s house a few blocks away, the flamingos giving off what seems to be a radioactive pink glow in the late Sunday afternoon sun. It was then that she grabbed me. This woman was about 5’7″, a little shorter then myself, had blue eyes and straight brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. She wore a pair of tight-fitting blue jeans, white t-shirt and a long brown coat. At first sight, I was completely shocked by not only this woman’s sudden and unexpected actions but her amazing beauty.
“There you are” she exclaimed, “I’ve been waiting here for twenty minutes now. Let me guess, no money for a cab? Figures you wouldn’t even bother to call me. Now hurry up, if we don’t get in soon we won’t get good seats.” She grabbed my hand and started walking across the parking lot towards the cinema like a track star, nearly pulling my arm from my socket.

Quality Post
Ok, so since I’ve been writing nothing but snippets so far, I’ll write something of quality here.
SOMETHING OF QUALITY
OK, seriously though, I’m trying to think of something of quality to put here, but it’s pretty hard.My Little Eye: It was a great movie. The idea was origional, and it made me want to keep watching it. I loved the way it progressed, the cameras and what not were good and the ending concluded it nicely. Rating: 8/10
Along Came Polly: Decent movie, acting was ok. Ben Stiller was his typical self. He danced as he does in all his movies. I wasn’t really impressed and there wasn’t any tiems that I laughed out loud. It wasn’t the best movie, but I’ve seen alot worse. Rating: 4/10.
